JLWA is one of the latest entrants in the crowded Restaurant space of Bandra. It’s a fine dine Resto Pub with fantastic décor and prime location on Bandra’s Linking Road. We were invited over last Sunday to review their Sunday Brunch. And coming from the people who run the popular TAMASHA in Parel and Lord of Drinks in Andheri, we were thrilled with the verity of food on the Brunch Menu. The Brunch, reasonably priced at 899++ was amazing. It included Salads(3 verities), Cold Dips(3 verities) with assorted breads, Hot Pass Arounds or Starters(8 verities, 4 Veg and 4 Non Veg), Hot Display or Main Course( 8 items again, 4 Veg, 4Non-veg) and 6 Desserts. Being a brunch, they also had special breakfast items from Kitchen. And yes, the Brunch also included Mocktails, which were of absolute exotic verity. Now if you feel the urge to down a few alcoholic Cocktails, need not worry, they also have that as part of their brunch at 1599++. We started with Hot Pass Arounds, which included Paneer Malai Tikka(4.5/5), Achari Broccoli(4.5/5), Phudina Soya Chaap(3/5) and Veg Farm House Pizza(4/5) in Vegetarian starters. In Non Veg we had Kolmi Fry(PrawnsFry- outstanding)(5/5), Peri Peri Chicken Shashlik (4.5/5), Sabudana Shammi Balls(5/5) and BBQChicken Pizza(4/5). The Salads and Cold Dips followed that with outstanding Lebneh, Moutable and Spinach Hummus with Lavash & Pita breads. Assorted accompaniments like Olives and other dressings added further to the 3 Salads, namely Tomato & Mozzarella, Waldorf and Chicken Tandoori with Barley. Would rate all of them at 4.5/5. The mains included Murgh Saagwaala (4/5), Lamb Handi (4.5/5), Grilled Fish with Dill Sauce(5/5) and Biryani (5/5) in Non Veg and Paneer Makhani(4.5/5), Mac & Cheese(4/5), Dal Makhani (5/5) and Biryani(4.5/5). All of them worth a second go… Desserts included Chocolate Mousse cake, Baby Blondies, Lime Tartlets, Gajar Ka Halwa and baby Gulab Jamuns. All the desserts were outstanding.(5/5) Now about the Cocktails and Mocktails, We tried Banarasi Paan Beer(5/5), Maple Whisky(3.5/5) and A.D.K.D.A.(5/5) in cocktails and Spicy Watermelon Mint(5/5) in Mocktail. All the drinks amazing and worth a try anytime, presented in a spectacular way. Overall, if you are looking for a place to unwind on Sunday morning with a lazy Brunch, JLWA is the place to be in Bandra… Must go next Sunday!!!

Foodgasm situated at Bandra Reclamation in Bandra West, Mumbai, is one of the very niche food joint serving superb food with the concept of Health First... All the food items that we tasted at Foodgasm were prepared with the thought of enhancing the taste of health food, which is usually not very tasty. The menu is curated by renowned Chef Varun Inamdar who is known for his curating one of the finest food menus and has served his delicacies to the dignitaries of the world like Barack Obama, Nicholas Sarkozy and Vladimir Putin and in India, world renowned cricketer Sachin Tendulkar & Ambani family. The resturant is run by Mr. Kapil Ghorpade, a young, enthusiastic entrepreneur with love for fitness and healthy food. He is also a half marathoner and crossfit lover. The Drink that we tasted included Sea Breeze (coconut water, mint and lemon juice drink), Fruity Mojito ( Strawberry and watermelon Mojito) and Avocado Lassi. Frankly all the drinks were lacking the punch in taste and presentation. It would be great if they can improve upon that. The Appetizers were very interesting and tasty. We tried Twisted Pani Puri (Quinoa, chickpeas, chana dal, served with shelled pomegranates & kala khatta flavoured pani) which was very interesting version of the Mumbai street favorite, although the quality of Puri could have been better. Bruschetta with mutton keema & wilted spinach bheja masala called The Super Pretty One was really nice in flavor. Tandoori Platter(Vegitarian) called Apne Khet Se was a combination of Tandoori corn, Thai mushrooms, pesto potatoes, malai broccoli & kesari cauliflower. Thai Mushrooms were great, Corn bit over done. We also has two Wraps, Pesto-fied Cottage Cheese and Shrimp Koli Masala. The filling in both the wraps was superb, but the wheat roll was a bit on the thicker side. Overall, great stuff... We also tried two soups, Hara Pyaaz(Creamed spring onion soup topped with tofu & chives) and Something Fishy. Something fishy, a sea food broth as the name suggests had full sized prawns, fish and shrimps. Both of them were very good and highly recommended. Now to the main course, we were quite full with the soup and appetizers, but Mr. Kapil insisted that we must try their most popular main course items of Quinoa Biryani, Black Rice Pilaf and Calangaute in Bandra, A goan fish curry. The Biryani was ok, but the Black Rice Pilaf was outstanding! The Black rice, sourced specially from North-East India was subtly flavored and worth every grain! The Fish Curry, served with healthy Red Rice was too good. This was an additional course of food that we had, but it was worth overeating... You see, it's all healthy!!! We ended our meals with desserts, The Ultimate Dub-Mash(Crumbled dark chocolate & whole wheat brownie) and Baked Yogurt with Strawberries, both of them, though high on calories, were on the healthier side. Overall, Foodgasm is a great place to have a quite meal( breakfast, lunch or dinner). It's relatively small in size but the food makes up for everything. The place has free wi-fi and is wheelchair accessible. There is a separate outside sitting area which is smoker friendly. If you don't plan to go there, don't worry, you can order home delivery and the food will be delivered at your door step... PS: If you want to have this healthy food 365 days, you can subscribe to their One Up, the premium healthy and balanced meal service, where you will get a mix of 3 small meals delivered to your work space or home at 10.30 am everyday!!!
